Description
The Colours of Ireland Celtic Necklace is inspired by the four provinces of our Emerald Isle. Munster, Leinster, Ulster and Connaught. There are four gemstones in the piece, each emblematic of the four corners of Ireland. The cabochon cut stones are carefully set in genuine sterling silver.
The province of Leinster:
Located in the east of Ireland is famed for black Kilkenny marble. Known as the ”marble city” there are magnificent buildings where you will see this black marble. To represent this distinctive marble we have taken Black Onyx gemstone as it compliments the sterling silver beautifully.
The province of Connaught:
Home to Ireland’s national gem, green Connemara marble. The Connemara region lies in County Galway. Formed in the pre Cambrian era which was 900 million years ago it is the mineral serpentine gives the marble its unique green colour. Once quarried each piece will hold its own distinctive coloration.
The province of Ulster:
Encompasses the northern part of the Island of Ireland. You will find the white marble in County Tyrone. Take a look at the stone, you can see that there are intrusions of greys in this marble. Howlite was the perfect gemstone to emulate the white marble and gives the impression of a cloudy day in Ireland of which we have plenty!
The province of Munster:
Is the largest of the four provinces and occupies the southern part of Ireland. The town of Cobh ( near Cork city) is famed for its red marble. The red adventurine stone has a unique mix of red, pink and orange hues that will give you a feeling of warmth and comfort.
Our sterling silver received its hallmark at the Irish Assay office which is located in Dublin Castle and adds an extra connection to Ireland.
