The praying of the rosary is deeply symbolic. Dating back centuries, the recitation of prayer using simple beads carved from wood or stone, or simply counting prayers from a knotted rope has brought comfort, solace and hope to countless generations.
The book of Kells rosary draws its inspiration from the actual Book of Kells, a hand drawn illuminated manuscript of the four gospels. Created around the year 800AD this is considered as one of the finest works of its kind and is one of Ireland’s national treasures. The crucifix is a replica of St Columba’s cross on the island of Iona, where its believed the book was created.
The center, or heart is a reproduction of one of the finest folio, or pages from the manuscript and the colors used in the beads reflect the pigments used in the ornate decorations embellishing the book itself.
This rosary is truly a classic, inspired by our national treasure and constructed with care using the finest materials.
We hope that you will enjoy and find inner peace with our special rosary.
