Trinity Knot Amethyst Necklace

The Trinity Knot or Triquetra has become known in modern times as a Celtic Symbol of Love.

The three interlocking points have been interpreted in many ways one of which is that it was inspired by the Celtic belief of the importance of the Earth, Sea and Sky and the Lunar and Solar phases. You can see that here we have handcrafted the sun, moon and stars with the Trinity Knot being the central connection.

The regal, deep purple Amethyst gemstone highlights this piece. It is said to help keep negative energy away and to relieve stress and anxiety. It is also the birthstone for February so if you are born around this month this is your stone. The stone is used by many cultures as a form of protection from bad spirits or dangerous situations.

The Celts were very familiar with the idea of the trinity. The combination of the knot into rings, linens, jewelry and other designs is associated with eternity and eternal love. The Trinity Knot is also said to represent the three promises of a relationship – Love, Honor and Protection. Trinity Knot designs are found all over our island on our ancient Celtic Crosses and ancient monastic sites still standing in Ireland today.
