Description
When St Patrick came to Ireland in 432AD to convert the Irish to Christianity he used the shamrock to explain the mystery of the blessed trinity . We celebrate the shamrock and St Patrick’s legacy in these hand made Irish rosaries. A gilded image of the shamrock is embossed into each silk like green glass bead. Our rosaries are assembled by hand in the homes of our workers. Have a look at the rich detail on the Celtic Cross that adorns the rosary. These crosses were said to have been designed by St Patrick himself to explain the connection between ancient sun worship and the Christian message.
Finally at the center, or heart of the rosary – this contains an image of the shrine of Knock . Located in County Mayo, this is Ireland’s Marian shrine and is the place where Our Lady appeared in August 1879 . The taking of water at the shrine forms part of the pilgrimage to Knock. There a drop of water from Knock Shrine encased on the back of the center.
